Leanne Kilroy is a London-based interior designer, known for her laid back yet elegant style. Since launching her practice, Good Bones, she has been featured in publications such as the The New York Times, The English Home, Wall Street Journal, Homes & Antiques, Living, Etc., House & Garden, Domino Magazine, Remodelista, Forbes Home, House Beautiful and The Sunday Times among many others.
Growing up in New England, Leanne was surrounded by interior aesthetes from a young age: her father owned Boston's cult vintage furniture store, Danish Country, and her intuitive approach and style are partly influenced by the many sourcing trips she made with him.
Leanne is available for one-off design consultations, full house redesign, and everything in between—from layouts to sourcing and procurement, she is passionate about helping her clients create spaces they love. The process is accessible, intimate and looks different for each and every project.
Leanne has designed a sofa — the Good Bones Sofa, available in both a straight and chaise version — available in any fabric through the The House Upstairs, shipping worldwide.
Leanne lives in North London with her childhood sweetheart, their three daughters, and Cato the black cat. You can follow along as she shares her honest chronicles of her own home renovation, DIY and gardening tips, and more @goodboneslondon as well as a weekly newsletter offering deep dives into even more design-related topics at The Good Bones Life.

“When we first discovered interior designer Leanne Killroy via Instagram (find her @goodboneslondon – she's a must follow), we fell head over heels with her Victorian home. She has, amid the chaos of London, achieved a sort of light-filled haven, all white-washed woods and whisper soft neutrals steeped in history but with none of the heaviness.”
— House Beautiful UK, February 2025
“In the sunlit kitchen, the air smells like a tomato greenhouse. Out in the garden, green parakeets and goldfinches chatter above a black cat’s watchful gaze. On the stairs, the footsteps of family members come and go almost constantly…we’re with Leanne Kilroy — mother of three and, as she puts it, an over-sharing designer & homebody doing up a Victorian house in London with good bones.”
— Nostalgia Corporation, September 2025
She never set out to build a brand or a business – only a home. “I’m not a very ambitious person,” she says. “My self-esteem doesn’t come from achievement. I just do what feels right, and if something stops being enjoyable, I move on. I have a lot of creative energy – it spills where it spills.”
Perhaps that’s what gives her home its particular magic: the quiet confidence of a space that’s been loved into being, not designed to impress. “It’s not perfect,” she says. “But that’s the point, isn’t it? A home should grow with you. It should tell your story.”
— The Home Page, November 2025
“Look, this isn’t a popularity contest but if it was, Good Bones might win. When I consulted my own Instagram followers about their favourite accounts for accessible decorating, Leanne’s name came up over and over. Follow her to see the hugely satisfying progress of her Victorian townhouse renovation and gather useful advice from her trials and tribulations in decorating and DIY.”

“You’d never know looking at Leanne Kilroy’s bedroom and bath now, but at one point during her remodel, there were gaps in the shower floor tile, a permanent marker stain on the dresser’s marble countertop, and an irremediable leak coming from the tub spout…Both the bedroom and bathroom layouts were designed to have circular circulation…Not only does Kilroy find that dead ends often lead to gloomy corners, but the openness makes her life as a mom of three easier. “I’m always lugging around armfuls of things that need tidying or cleaning, and I’m constantly forgetting things here and there. Having shortcuts is a small but constant joy,” she says.”

“the attention to detail is evident…”

“an ambitious and glossy renovation of a Victorian terrace in North London…”
— Financial Times, February 2023
“Leanne Kilroy knows a good thing when she sees it…Clearly, Leanne has vision. As the founder of Good Bones…she has an eye for spotting hidden treasures (a talent she shares with her dad, who owned ” the legendary but now-closed antiques shop on Beacon Hill in Boston, called Danish Country”). And as a designer, she loves nothing more than to remodel a space with potential (good bones, if you will).
Just take a look at her kitchen. When the couple purchased the home, “it was a boarding house, with a second kitchen upstairs and lots of chopped-up spaces, and it wasn’t in the best condition. The main kitchen was, quite literally, disgusting,” she tells us. Undaunted, Leanne sketched out plans for an extension involving Shaker cabinets and lots of skylights and windows (“the best way to describe what we were going for is a “Victorian orangerie”)—and trusted in her vision.

“Leanne Kilroy of the much loved instagram account Good Bones has incorporated antiques into her sunroom, the character of the table and bench providing a direct - and quite wonderful - contrast to the lightness of the space.
‘I grew up in a house full of antiques - my dad had an antiques shop for 40 years - so they feel like home to me,' Leanne says. 'Antiques have many stories to tell, often being much better made than today’s mass produced furniture. Antiques are my favorite way to provide a space with not only function and beauty but personality and soul as well.’”
